Your Lash Artist should first discuss with you some options and find out the desired look you want to achieve with your new extensions. The more information you could provide at your consultation the better.
PLEASE REMEMBER - We are not Magicians nor Psychics, we can only work with what we have got, so it may not always be possible to create super full looks on every client.
Show your Lash Artists some photos of the lashes that you like, this is a good starting point of a lash consultation.
Here are a few questions your lash stylist will need to know.
Your eyelash appointment

-
Do you want them to be longer, thicker, fuller or darker, and how strong a curl do you desire?
-
Is it for everyday wear or for a special occasion?
-
Is it for a special occasion such as a wedding or a party or is it for an overseas holiday? Wedding - Picture perfect lashes are priority but longevity may not be as important. Party - Dramatic lashes will be important, whereas longevity not so important. Overseas holiday - Look your best for as long as possible. Longevity is a priority.
-
Do you prefer a feline shape where lashes are longer on the outer corners? Or do you prefer longer lashes in the middle section of your eye to make them appear bigger and rounder?
-
How long do you want your lashes to last?
-
What is your budget?

Consultation:
What do I need to know?
Your stylist will assess your lashes and recommend extensions best suited for your natural lashes while styling them according to your desires. Your options could either be semi permanent lashes or temporary lashes depending on your budget and how long you want them to last. Different looks can be created with different types of extensions used, and are usually broken down into

Different manufacturers/suppliers have different curl standards, eg not all C curls have the exact same curvature.
Curl
Lashes are available in various degrees of curls. The most common curls are J, B, C and D curl.
J - subtle B - lash lift C - strong D - dramatic L - vertical lift
Lashes with a stronger curl have more impact from a frontal viewpoint and appear longer than a straighter curl in the same length.

Thickness
Lashes are available in a variety of thicknesses:
0.03mm, 0.05mm, 0.06mm, 0.07mm, 0.10mm, 0.12mm, 0.15mm, 0.18mm, 0.20mm, 0.23mm, 0.25mm and 0.30mm
Classic Lashes (1D) - 0.10mm, 0.12mm and 0.15mm
Volume Lashes (2D) - 0.07mm and 0.10mm
Volume Lashes (3D-6D) - 0.05mm, 0.06mm and 0.07mm
Mega Volume (9D+) - 0.03 and 0.05mm
Thicknesses of 0.23mm or above are being phased out in the lash industry worldwide because they are too heavy for most natural lashes to support.

Length
Lashes are available in a variety of lengths:
Short 6mm to 8mm
Medium 9mm to 12mm
Long 13mm to 14mm
Extra long 15mm and above
Most salons would usually stock 8mm - 14mm in their inventory; 9mm - 12mm are the most popular sizes.
Longer is not always better, using lashes 14mm or longer are not always ideal unless you already have strong, long natural lashes to begin with.

Volume
Fuller looks can be achieved by applying more lashes. More lashes can also mean better longevity.
Classic lash extensions - 60 to100 lashes per eye
Volume lash extensions - 300 to 600+ lashes per eye
A fuller set requires more time to apply more lashes so will cost you more.

After a thorough consultation, your stylist will ask you to recline on a massage table that should support your neck and back. Your eyes will be kept closed throughout the treatment, many clients find it so relaxing that they actually fall asleep.

Preparation
-
Your Lash Artist will remove your eye makeup if any, then cleanse your eye area with a gentle cleanser.
-
Eyepads will be placed over your lower lashes to keep them separated from the top lashes.
-
A primer may or may not be applied onto your lashes with microbrushes
-
Your Lash Artist will assess your lashes and will choose the most appropriate curl, thickness and length for you based on her findings from the consultation.

Application
-
Using two pairs of tweezers, she will isolate one natural eyelash then place only one extension on it. The adhesive should never come into contact with your skin and the extension should not be touching your eye or waterline. This process will be repeated based on the volume desired.
-
After the set is complete, she will then nebulise the set of lashes with a fine mist. The hydrogen in the water will cure the adhesive for a longer lasting bond.
-
You should feel comfortable throughout the procedure and never feel any stinging in the eyes, before or after the extensions are applied.
-
You should be able to brush through your lashes with a mascara wand
What do I need to know?
Proper application of Classic eyelash extension is 1 extension onto 1 natural eyelash only, not on multiple natural lashes or onto the skin. Therefore your natural lashes underneath should remain separated without clumps and there must be no visible signs of glue.
Your eyes should feel comfortable at all times during and after your lash application. Your new lashes should feel lightweight and you should be able to brush through with a mascara wand without any pulling or restrictions.
Your lashes will last indefinitely with regular infills, otherwise they will shed gradually over the course of 4 to 10 weeks.

-
Avoid oil based products and stay away from hot steam at all times.
-
You must not pull on your extensions and it is recommended to sleep on your back so your new lashes will not be crushed in your sleep
-
Wash your lash extensions at least once a day to keep your eyes clean and healthy
-
Dry lashes with a cool hair dryer for 20 secs after wash
-
No tinting or perming to be done on top of your new lashes.
-
It is best to book in for a touchup appointment 2 weeks after your new set (if you are getting lashes for the first time) so your Lash Artist can assess how successful your set has been and adjust to your liking if needed.
